Lawyer, Doctor in Public Law

Melkide HOSSOU is a lawyer at the Lyon Bar (France), holds a Doctorate in Public Law, and wrote a thesis on "The Reciprocal Influences of Administrative Law and Environmental Law in Benin, Senegal, and France: A Contribution to the Study of Contemporary Legal Dynamics," which she defended in 2021 at Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University. She was awarded the First Prize for thesis by the French Society for Environmental Law (6th edition, 2023) and the Accessit of the Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University Thesis Prize in the "Law" category.

As an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Law (IDE) of Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University and a consultant, Melkide HOSSOU has been leading teaching and training courses for several years in French and African universities, institutions, major schools, and institutes. He focuses on environmental and climate law, the right to development, administrative and constitutional law, the rule of law, justice, and human rights.

Passionate about human rights, Melkide Hossou has over ten years of professional and community experience in fundamental rights and freedoms, both in Africa and Europe, acquired within international organizations such as Plan International, Amnesty International, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Melkide Hossou specializes in the management of environmental, social, and governance risks related to corporate activities (pollution, waste, decarbonization, ecological transition).
